The fact that this bike trip can be done as an extension to your trip to Dehradun-Mussoorie, makes it one of the best mounatin bike tours near Delhi. Start your bike trip from Rajpur, which is an old village (now modern) & a very famous place in Dehradun. One can easily reach Rajpur, which is just 6 km from Clock Tower, Dehradun. Kickstart the bike tour from Rajpur towards the Old Mussoorie road. After just 1 km of flat patch, the road now turns incline climbing through the forest till it reaches village Shahenshahi. As you pass this village, the road now turns downhill upto a bridge on a seasonal stream. Cross the bridge to start the ascent again which brings you at village Kotal. As you paddle further, you reach Kotal Gate, which is a diversion point. From here one road goes up hill to Mussoorie and another goes downhill to Dehradun (New Mussoorie road). Take the road which goes to Mussoorie & cross the Kotal Gate barrier. There are two big turns on the road, as you reach the second big turn, there is a small village road that goes to village Purkal. Enjoy a scenic ride downhill to Purkal. Have a break at Purkal & ride back to Rajpur. You also have an option to venture further onto some amazing bike trail in the Pachhwadun region.
